Hate Crimes

World Wide Weird

I don't know about you, but Hate Crimes make me sick. I don't like to think about it, because it is such an ugly issue. But to resolve a problem, we must first become aware of it.

I'm piecing together information so that you can become aware of the issue as well. You may not see Hate Crimes every day, but they do happen. Even if you are not a victim of a Hate Crime, you are still affected. Violence commited against one member of a community is commited against the entire community. If you are concerned about this issue, please read on.

  What is a Hate Crime?
A Hate Crime can be defined as any crime commited against another person(s) because of a pre-disposition about that person(s). When you think of Hate Crimes, you probably think of gay-bashing, right? It's more than that. Hate Crimes are any crimes commited because of race, creed, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion, color, or national origin. But federal and many state laws do not include sexual orientation, age, or gender in their hate crime laws. In fact, Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, New Mexico, South Carolina, and Wyoming have no hate crime laws at all. You can find links to contact the President and your members of Congress here. Please let them know that we need to expand the hate crime laws, and to let the public know that Hate Crimes will not be tolerated in any community.

Often times it doesn't even take a large group. But Hate breeds more Hate...and it spreads through others like a virus.
Think Hate Crimes only happen in big cities?
